Stopped working just after the 1 year warranty

We purchased this dishwasher in December 2017 after the previous one broke. Worked great for the first year and then the wash pump broke and we had to have it serviced in February 2019. The repair technician said this was a common issue with this particular model. Worked well and then a few months ago the heating element went out and so the dishes do not dry. It also seems that the dishes are not getting cleaned anymore and we have to hand wash things after a cycle. The inside of the machine also has to be cleaned after a few cycles due to build up of detergent and food. I would not recommend this dishwasher.

We purchased this Whirlpool unit about a month ago for our unit and it has been a grear performer so far. We have an open kitchen and the dishwasher is fairly quiet so we are able to have conversations in the area without having to raise our voices. The dishes come out nice and clean and the drying cycle works well. We will definitely look at Whirlpool appliances when the time comes to replace our current refrigerator and stove.

Never washed a dish. Broken from new.

After the dishwasher was installed, I tried it. It fills with a little bit of water, heats up and that's it. There is NO washing, nothing---just disappointment. The soap never moves. Please do not tell me to run the hot tap closest to the dishwasher. There isn't enough water going into the dishwasher to so much as rinse a dish littlelone clean one. It never gets past the first little part of a cycle. I tried different cycles---same thing. The washing arms do not engage and this is from NEW. I chatted with a very rude Whirlpool customer service represenatative who suggested using rinse aid. She seemed to be purposely rude. She should not interact with customers. I asked if the machine needed rinse aid to run---she did not answer. I do not want a service call. I want a new machine that works or my money back. Service calls are for machines that have been running and then break This machine did not run from new. I expect a new machine to work or be replaced at the companies expense. This is not warrenty work as the machine never worked. This should be a money back guarentee. Do you guarentee your products to work? If you stand behind your product, replace it or MONEY BACK. On the plus side, the dishwasher is very quiet as there is no pesty noisies of dishes washing.

We noticed after machine installed, the back left and right bottom corners were dented. The left middle side dented as well. In shipping? Packing? Installation? Not easy to get in touch with Whirlpool Customer Service - purchased at Home Depot and they referred us back to Whirlpool. Washer quiet, runs well. However, VERY difficult to add drying liquid. One needs a funnel to keep liquid from running over inside of door. We can not tell with the small hole/viewing glass how much liquid is in dispenser. Until we have our machine inspected and dents reviewed, we don't know if internal damage to machine has occurred. Whirlpool, kindly get in touch with us.

I ordered another machine from my retailer, according to him, the machine I ordered was damaged, but as a reward he was going to upgrade my choice and give me a break on the pricing. This was clearly a joke. The machine cleans fine and is quiet, however we are a family of 2, due to the configuration of the racks I must run the dishwasher everyday! The interior space is very small, the upper rack is not moveable to accommodate larger items. The model I looked at had a moveable rack and the interior appeared to be bigger. I hate this machine and due to the fact that I have to run it each and every day, it is not eco-friendly! I will live with it but I am certainly not very happy. Buyer beware!!!!

This dishwasher does a pretty good job washing. It's nice and quiet and I was happy with it, other than it taking a really long time. One hour wash uses a LOT of water, and everything comes out soaking wet unless you add a dry cycle, which extends the cycle significantly. The normal cycle takes at minimum 3 hours and 15 minutes, if you use the drying cycle. It does a pretty good job though. I've had it take over 4 hours in some cases. Unfortunately, the circulation motor completely died and the dishwasher doesn't even realize it. As a result, it fills with water, then does nothing, drains again, then fills again, and so on. The motor is so expensive to replace that it's not worth repairing, so it's going to the landfill and will be replaced by a different model.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I love the look and the features. My only complaint is the capacity and lack of adjustable racks. My old Kenmore dishwasher which I had for 18 years held more dishes and had adjustable racks. The whirlpool WDF540PADM out of stock at the time represented better value with its larger capacity, similar features and plastic interior. Whirlpool should have made the interior racks the same for this machine. Good thing my lower rack from my old machine fits the new machine. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and will be replacing my white Kenmore products with stainless steel whirlpool appliances as I continue to update my kitchen.

I am not the one who made the decision to purchase this model and never would have settled on this one had I been doing the shopping. You need to read reviews BEFORE doling out the cash AND BRING A BOX OF YOUR OWN DISHES to make sure they'll fit. The dishes come out clean so I give it 2 stars, but there isn't much else I can say about this dishwasher that is positive. First, without a bar handle across the front, there isn't a place near my sink to hang a dish towel to dry, but that may not be an issue in someone else's kitchen. The top rack configuration is dismally tight. Though my glassware isn't oversized, nearly all of my glasses and cups will not fit in the channels designed for this purpose because the tines in each have been placed too close together. I think it wasn't a problem for my previous dishwashers because the center tine configuration was more narrow which allows wider channels for glassware. Now, glasses have to sit partially in an adjoining channel and that leaves much less space for other drinkware. I have to run my dishwasher more frequently because the top rack fills up so quickly now, so I'm running a dishwasher that doesn't have a full top rack. How is that saving me water and energy? Also, in every dishwasher I've owned, the last tines at the end of each top row leave enough space to conveniently place lids to plastic storage containers. The tines for this one are placed so close to the outer edge of the rack that even the thinnest lid cannot fit, which means you'll have to prop the lids up between wider tines and that just takes up even more room that could be used for glassware. The bottom rack isn't much better because the design doesn't leave any space to stand anything up if you want to wash something wider than a plate, like a casserole dish. Modern dishwashers are usually very quiet, but this one is not. You hear the water sloshing about at pretty much the same noise level you get when filling a plastic milk jug from the tap. The length of wash times seems unusually long, well over 3 hours for most cycles. If you try to choose the shortest wash cycle possible (2:15) because you'll need clean dishes soon, you cannot select the heated wash, heated dry or sani-rinse functions. There IS a one hour wash selection, but it will not give you the option to dry the dishes, so plan on hand drying the entire load. However... The overall drying function is very poor. We have to wipe down the dishes after every wash regardless of setting or the addition of a rinse aid. The concave bottoms of every single glass, no matter how shallow, are always full of water. If this occurs even on heated dry, it brings into serious question whether or not the heating elements are actually heating when the heated wash and sani-rinse functions are selected. I have read some reviews where people complain about odors. This can happen even in the high end dishwashers and its because the filter is designed to trap food particles and then be removed and rinsed in your sink. If you don't want to rinse your filter, buy a dishwasher with a different design. I can not recommend this dishwasher. I've lived in too many places to remember off the top of my head and this dishwasher is my least favorite. That says a lot right there when you take into consideration that I'm including cheap dishwashers that were installed in my first apartments over 30 years ago.

I had my new machine delivered yesterday, installed and turned it on last night. nothing came clean, the pods were still sitting in the bottom when we opened it. Yes its installed correctly I've double checked. Now i call home depot they can't do anything because its a weekend, and whirl pool is not open on weekends. so currently stuck with dishwasher that doesn't clean anything. we will see how whirl pool handles the service. gave all reviews poor rating as i can't run the machine to tell how it works. i hope to be able to update this to a positive review but we shall see how everything is handled.

I am a bit disappointed by this dishwasher. Maybe I am not using the correct settings and will definitely look into that, but there is usually a plate, bowl or piece of cutlery that is still dirty after I run a cycle. I am also now aware that I will have to purchase a specific product to clean the front stainless steel panel since it does not clean well with anything I have available. It looks streaky and shadows of water drips are visible.

Quiet and Cleans Well

Overall am satisfied with the dishwasher. It is very quiet and does a good job cleaning dishes. Have only had it installed for a week so will see how well it holds up but Whirlpool does have a good record. Have tried the short cycles (1 hour and 2 hour) and they both work well with light loads. Typically use the normal cycle and heated dry and am very satisfied with results. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars are the racks. They are okay but have a fixed configuration that is not as accommodating as the KitchenAid this one replaced. The result is that it holds fewer dishes than its predecessor.

We just got this dishwasher a few weeks ago. It doesn't wash well at all...it leaves a film/residue randomly on the dishes. It takes three hours to complete a normal cycle and it constantly looks dirty despite using stainless cleaner regularly.

Leaking and Bad Customer service

Leaking Dishwasher and Very Poor customer service. I bought my whirlpool dishwasher because of the great reviews and the great reputation of the company. My Dish washer started leaking a little over a year after purchasing it. I had major damage to my floor in my kitchen and when I contacted Whirlpool this was there response "I wish I could give you a different answer than what I've stated previously, but that is the best advice we can offer about the issue you are experiencing. I certainly do understand your frustration though, and I will document your concern. As with any man-made machine, our appliances are susceptible to the possibility of a failure. When that failure occurs depends greatly on many variables. We do have the warranty in place to help you when these failures occur within the first year, and we do offer extended warranties in case something might happen beyond that." They wanted to send a person out to look at it for $98. Then I would have to pay parts and labor on top of that. The chat that I had was with whirlpools live chat. The person I was chatting with then hung up on me. Because I did not respond back in 3 minutes. After making me wait for over 10 minutes at one point in time. I am very unhappy with this product and company.
